Ashford: Meetings for Worship

In response to the ongoing corona virus outbreak, in-person Quaker Meetings for Worship at Ashford Friends Meeting House are currently suspended.

Over the period of the corona virus epidemic, Ashford Friends have been doing several things:

From 27 September 2020 to 10 January 2021, while UK government regulations permitted, Ashford Friends gathered for in-person Meetings for Worship, appropriately physically distanced and with proper regard to hygiene, in Ashford Friends Meeting House. However, alarmed at the very high levels of virus in Hythe, Folkestone and Ashford, Ashford Friends decided to suspend Meetings for Worship again until there were signs that viral transmission was in decline.

At other times, most Ashford Friends have been sitting quietly at home at the time of their usual Meeting for Worship.

Online Meetings for Worship are held for the entire Quaker community across East Kent. If you are a Friend, including from another Area Meeting, and wish to attend an online East Kent Area Meeting (EKAM) Meeting for Worship, you are encouraged to contact the EKAM Web Manager for an invitation. These online Meetings for Worship take place at 10:45 on Sundays, at 08:20 on Tuesdays, at 21:00 on Wednesdays and at 12:30 on Thursdays.

If, as a member of the general public, you would like to learn more about Quakers, you would be very welcome to attend an online Meeting for Enquirers. Woodbrooke Study Centre hosts 11 online Meetings for Worship each week. Members of the public are encouraged to visit the relevant page of the Woodbrooke Study Centre website for details about how to attend. Should you find that the Quaker way of worship suits you, then attending a local online Meeting for Enquirers may be an excellent route into greater involvement and participation.
